Christ Church, Halton is a Local Ecumenical Partnership church, in both Methodist and United Reformed traditions, we welcome people of any or no previous church affiliation to join with us in learning more about the Christian faith. In October 2014 we marked the 25th anniversary of the signing of a covenant between the two former churches with a celebratory weekend.
Our main act of worship takes place every Sunday at 10.30. We also meet on the first Tuesday of each month, bar August, at 7.15pm for Evening Communion. Activities for children are available at the back of the church. The Junior Church Team are also happy to supervise your children if you would like to stay in your seat for the service. Messy Church on the second Saturday of the month attracts large numbers (40-70 children plus their parents/carers) and celebrated its 5th birthday in February 2015.
United in love of Christ but at varying stages of the faith journey we also meet at other times for prayer, praise and a variety of fellowship groups.
So no matter whereabouts you are in faith we would be pleased if you would come and travel alongside us. Our church has a full programme of events and activities to suit all ages and abilities.
If you would like further information before joining with us for worship or any other activity, please contact the relevant link person or the minister, or just come along and introduce yourself. Be assured we are always pleased to welcome newcomers.
Ecumenically we also work with neighbour churches in both Churches Together in East Leeds and the One Voice group of churches of Halton, Halton Moor and Osmondthorpe e.g. Newbourne Methodist Church, Riverside, St Philip and St Wilfrid.
Since coming together as an LEP 25 years ago Christ Church has built up a number of long standing relationships with countries overseas. These sometimes include working with mission partners of the two denominations or in looser arrangements set up by our ex-ministers, members of the congregation or church groups. Fundraising for the charities concerned is comes alive when it involves people who have seen with their own eyes.
The proceeds of our highly successful Plant Sale (organised each May by the Guild but with church-wide support) are split equally between the Nigeria Health Care Project and Bangladesh (Commitment for Life). Sewing machines for South India are supported each Christmas by Coffee & Carols and the occasional coffee evening.
Hundreds of shoeboxes are sent from Christ Church and our neighbouring churches through Samaritan’s Purse (Operation Christmas Child).
