Christ Church marked the 25th anniversary of the signing of a covenant between Halton Methodist Church and Halton United Reformed Church in 1989 with a Flower Festival on 4th & 5th October and a Service of Celebration on the Sunday.
Among those attending were the Moderator of URC Yorkshire Synod, Revd Kevin Watson; Chair of Leeds District of the Methodist Church, Revd Dr Liz Smith and Revd Dr Clive Barrett from WYEC (West Yorkshire Ecumenical Council) the sponsoring body for the LEP. Four ex-ministers of Christ Church came to the celebrations (Revd Marlene Wilkinson, Revd Keith Hunt, Revd Bob Kitching and Revd Joyce Nicholson) and others sent messages.
The various aspects of church life were shown in flowers, a history corner attracted much attention and a loop presentation portrayed many memories from the past including the closing and demolition of two old buildings with Christ Church arising in an attractive new multi-purpose building used daily by both church and community.
A memorable weekend was enjoyed by all.
