History

In 1882 the first Wesleyan Methodist Chapel in Cross Gates was opened. That building is now the Church Hall which still stands next to the present church. By 1885 the original church had become too small to accommodate the people wanting to worship there and a second piece of land next to the Church was acquired. On the 13th May 1892 the new Wesleyan Methodist Chapel was opened on this acquired land and there it stands today. It is a handsome building which was built to accommodate 350 people.

As the church is situated in the heart of the local community, we are ideally placed to open our doors to local people, not just on Sundays but every day of the week. Coffee mornings, Wednesday at 8, Scouting and Guiding are just some of the ways the church facility is used and enjoyed. There is something for everyone, young and old.

The Church now has an average of 75 people worshipping here each week, it is a friendly place that welcomes everyone to worship. It includes Junior Church which caters for children of all ages.
