Volunteer Roles

At present we have two main volunteer roles available as part of the repair cafe. There is no requirement for any volunteer to be part of the church or even to have an active faith, however, we do ask that all volunteers are sympathetic to the aims and beliefs of the Methodist Church.
All volunteers will be recruited in line with the safer recruitment strategy and practices of the Methodist Church.

We will be holding a volunteer Recruitment session on Saturday 30th July between 11am-1pm so please come and join us for a drink and a chat and if you want to be involved you can fill out one of our volunteer forms. 

Fixers

• Are you handy? Are you the person everyone comes to with broken items? We need your help too. We are looking for volunteers with repair skills in fixing household items such as computers, electronics, small appliances, and bicycles. All skill levels are welcome! We are looking for fixers who can fix the following:

-Small appliances
-Clothing repair/ sewing
-Bicycle repair
-Electronics
-Joinery and woodwork
-Repairers are not required to show proof of their professional qualifications and/or training and they should only attempt repairs for which they have the necessary skills, competence and expertise.
-Repairers are encouraged to work together and learn from each other.

Host/Hostess

• Greet guests and explain how the Repair Cafe works
• Review and have guests sign the photo and liability forms
• Maintain a list of what each guest brought
• Distribute Repair Cafe comment cards
• Collect Repair Cafe ballot cards
• Promote volunteering opportunities for upcoming repair cafes
• Keep track of suggestions, inquiries and comments
• Help with provision of refreshments
• Be available to talk with and listen to guests
