My name is Anne Kirkland, I live towards the east of the circuit, I was brought up in the Methodist church, and indeed in the circuit and now worship at Oakwood. I am married to Brian and have a complex family. Our older boys and their families live in south London and Horsham and our girls' families are in Leeds, we still have a son living at home, we have 8 grandchildren. Our family is made up of birth and adopted children and we are foster carers and have fostered between 350 and 400 children, some of which we still have contact. This is our complexity.
I am currently one of the circuit stewards and although there is a lot of responsibility and work to be done, I have loved every minute of it. We are engaged with supporting our Ministers and local churches and work as part of a team looking at circuit strategy.
I am also the circuit safeguarding officer, a role I job share and have held for many years. This involves working with the churches and helping where necessary with policies, training and keeping records up to date and in good order. I am also part of the District's safeguarding advisory group.
In my spare time I enjoy puzzles, games and quizzes, I also enjoy shopping!
