Nigel Wright

Hi, I'm Nigel and I joined the Circuit in 2025. I am minister of Barwick-in-Elmet and Newbourne Methodist Churches and also part of the ministerial team at Oakwood Church.

I originally worked as a commercial property solicitor in the City of London before spending three years as a Methodist lay worker in Somerset with pastoral charge of three rural chapels. After ministerial training at Wesley College, Bristol, I went into Circuit in 1998 and have since worked in a variety of circuits in Surrey, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and London, encompassing a mixture of suburban, town centre, rural and inner-city churches, before moving to Leeds.

My priority in ministry is to see people come to faith, to grow in faith and to discover and use their gifts. I enjoy working collaboratively in ministry and being part of a team, and I am passionate about growth; spiritual, numerical, relational and missional.

I am married to Heather and we have an adult son and a feisty Jack Russell. I am an ardent supporter of Ipswich Town Football Club, and I enjoy walking, and watching cricket and films. My playing days are sadly behind me though...
