Hi, I am Deacon Adelha Da Silva Kaka. I am originally from Angola. My family and I moved from Paris to London in 1997. Since my arrival, I have been involved in several roles in the life of the local Church such as worship leader, pastoral leader, vestry, and door steward, as well as becoming a member of the Outreach group who visited Residential and Nursing Homes.
Due to my linguistic skills in Portuguese and French, I worked as an interpreter for Waltham Forest Council, assisting refugees and migrants in schools, hospitals, housing, and social services. Further on, I successfully completed a Combined Honours Law and International Politics LLB degree at London South Bank University.
It was in 2018 that I strongly sensed God's call to leave my work as a conveyancing assistant and journey towards studies for ordained ministry, particularly the Diaconal ministry. Having completed the training for ordained ministry at Queen's Foundation Birmingham, I am stationed in the Leeds North & East Methodist Circuit, ministering with Meeting Point Café and Moortown Methodist Church Centre. I trust God who journeys with us, and I look forward to meeting you, rediscovering and discovering the variety of hidden treasures within each one of us and around us to be used for the furtherance of God's kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven.
As part of the Diaconal Rule of Life, prayer and daily devotion are part of my daily discipline. For me, prayer is a way of conversing with God, listening to God at any time or place through contemplation, silence, walking, or singing. I enjoy going out for a walk and photographing flowers and trees. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends, knitting, crocheting, and drawing.
